I love waking up to “breaking news” about my works, whether it’s my agent forwarding a cover I haven’t seen, or my editor telling me good news about a current or future book, or news out of Hollywood about the FORGOTTEN movie. Not long ago, I said I had nothing to report…well, TODAY I DO!

Helloooo!
This month, the REVIVED ARC (advanced reader/review copy) has started making its way to regional trade shows, which makes me so happy! (And nervous, of course, because it means PEOPLE will be reading my BOOK.) But I’m happy because–since it’s OUT THERE already–I get to show the rest of you who haven’t seen it at the trade shows the super creepy/pretty REVIVED COVER. Yippee!!

Have I mentioned lately that I’m afraid of everything? No? Well, I am. The dark. Zombies. Ghosts. Aliens. (I attribute that last one to
Signs, one of the best movies of all time. It terrified me for life, but it’s okay because it’s also the movie that made me fall in love with Joaquin Phoenix. What can I say? I like the weirdos.)
Anyway! Everything October is scary, scary, scary, and I wanted to do a post about creepy-wonderful books, but alas, I’m too much of a wimp to read a lot of them. So, I asked one of my favorite bloggers, Ashley from
The Bookish Brunette, to post on my behalf. Here’s what the lovely Miss Bookish had to say.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love
Etsy. I’m talking L.O.V.E. Bazillions of creative people in one place showing off their designs? Come on! From Etsy sellers, I have purchased wall decals and vintage owls and the coolest, custom painting known to man, among (an embarrassing number of) other things. So, it’ll come as no surprise that I follow
Etsy on Twitter, which is why I managed to spot this
blog post this morning. As you can see, Etsy posted about
Fifty People, One Question–a company that makes movie montages of fifty people…answering the same, single question–and Etsy and I both love its recent project:

YOU GUYS.
Just before Memorial Day, before summer and the launch of FORGOTTEN and travel and signings and all that wonderful-ness, I quietly finished my second book. (Actually, it wasn’t really like that. Book two was sort of a beast to write and edit, and when I finished it, I did whoop it up a bit.) But since then, I’ve been driving my publicist and editor crazy asking, “When, oh when, can I share book two news??”
GUESS WHAT? THAT DAY IS TODAY!!

Hubby tells me that I spend too much time on my blogs and that’s why I don’t blog often enough. Point taken. So now, I will attempt to blog FASTER and MORE and about WHATEVER I HAPPEN TO BE THINKING ABOUT.
(Today, mostly, I’m thinking about boots. I’m a boot-lover. A boot whore, really. More on this later.)
Perhaps a more relevant thing to QUICKLY blog about is the FORGOTTEN MOVIE. I’ve heart recently from a few people looking for an update. And the update is…

Hey, guess what? I’ve been writing a lot.
Maybe that’s a dumb thing to say, but since officially becoming an author, my writing time’s been hit or miss. But lately, HIT! I’m focused on one project but there are three or more waiting in line, and even though I’ve had more of it than usual, I never feel like I have enough writing time. That little alarm goes off on my phone, telling me it’s time to do something else, and I think:
Didn’t I just sit down five seconds ago?

Hi there,
So yeah, I’ve been slacking on the post front again: I’ve been traveling and revising and enjoying the end of summer with my munchkins. Now that preschool is GAME ON!, I’m back in blog action.
It’s been a while since my last “Your Turn” interview: This week I’m happy to share an interview I did with sarcastic and sassy Jen from
www.astoldbyjen.com. Book bloggers are such a big part of the whole circus that is Being Published; thought you might enjoy some insights into the world of one of my favorites.

Hey, guess what? FORGOTTEN has been out for two months now! It’s like time was stuck in amber when I was waiting for the book to launch, and now I blink and three days rush by. (And yes, “amber” was a reference to Fringe. I’m obsessed. What?)

***CONTEST CLOSED***
Oh hi, Blog. It’s me, Cat. Nice to see you again.
This is going to be super quick because some people in the house–not mentioning any names–aren’t napping. But I did want to get this posted because I have something fun to give away!
Yesterday, I participated in the coolest signing at
Third Place Books called YA Summer Extravaganza. (BTW, if you live in the Seattle area and have never been to Third Place Books, go! You won’t be disappointed.) Anyway, six authors participated, including (from right to left in the photo) Kimberly Derting, Suzanne Young, me, Lisa Schroeder, Mandy Hubbard and Eileen Cook. They’re all very talented multi-book authors and it was a honor to speak with them, and to laugh with them…cause we did a lot of laughing. That’s a sure sign of a good event!
I’ve been asked several times recently if music inspires me, and yes, yes it does. That thought in my brain, leading up to the signing, I came up with an idea for a fun giveaway: a CD of 2-3 songs from each author that inspired her writing. When I pulled together the playlist, I joked that we’re a moody bunch but actually, it’s a pretty awesome CD if I do say so myself.

The Playlist:
- Everlong, Foo Fighters Cat’s pick
- Everything, Lifehouse Kimberly’s pick
- Falling In, Lifehouse Lisa’s pick
- Glitter In the Air, P!nk Lisa’s pick
- If You Leave, OMD Eileen’s pick
- Iridescent, Linkin Park Mandy’s pick
- Iris, Goo Goo Dolls Suzanne’s pick
- Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me, The Smiths Eileen’s pick
- The Only Exception, Paramore Mandy’s pick
- She Talks to Angels, The Black Crowes Suzanne’s pick
- Sparks, Coldplay Kimberly’s pick
- Use Somebody, Kings of Leon Cat’s pick
- Violet!, Jeremy Messersmith Kimberly’s pick
- With or Without You, U2 Eileen’s pick
- Yellow, Coldplay Suzanne’s pick
We gave most of the CDs away to the brave question-askers at the event, but I was able to snag TWO for giveaway on my blog.
Even better? They’re autographed times six!
All you have to do for a chance to win one of the CDs is to leave a comment with your personal theme song. You know, that song that you listen to in the car or at the gym: the one that always pumps you up and makes you smile. Yeah,
that song.
I’ll accept entries through 8/8/11 at midnight. Look forward to seeing what inspires YOU.
