Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to REVIVED
Happy birthday to you!
Though it’s been shipping from Amazon and on bookstore shelves for a couple weeks now, my second book, REVIVED, launches—officially!—today. What’s more, the gorgeous paperback version of FORGOTTEN hits shelves today, too! Blastoff!
Last year when FORGOTTEN came out, I expected something to HAPPEN on Launch Day. A parade down my street. White doves released in my honor. At minimum, a truckload of salted caramel cupcakes dumped on my doorstep. But I’ll let you in on a little secret: Launch day is just a regular day. You have to make it special yourself.
So, what am I doing today?
REVIVED’s birthday is also May Day, which was a major holiday in my house growing up. My mom is one of those amazingly crafty sorts, and she’d make the loveliest May baskets using nothing but tissue paper and milk cartons. We’d drive over to our cousins’ house and attempt to deliver the baskets to the front porch without getting caught. (And our cousins are super tall. With long legs. On which to run FAST.) I have such fond memories of laughing with my mom and siblings on May Day that I want to recreate that with my kiddos. So, this morning we will strap on our runners, do some stretches and prepare to take on the cousins’ doorstep. Wish us luck.
The rest of the day will be spent doing pretty much what I do every other day, balancing Mommyhood and Authordom, with a few sprinklings of “yay, me!” wedged in there. Hubby and I will open some bubbly tonight to toast REVIVED’s launch into the world. (Well, the US and Australia…more to come soon.)
This weekend, I’ll kick off a series of appearances with a launch party in Seattle at
Elliott Bay Book Company. Then I’ll hit the road to Chicago and visit
The Book Stall and
Anderson’s Naperville. After that, I’m off to Palo Alto, CA for a multi-author signing with Jay Asher, Daisy Whitney, Jandy Nelson and Kevin Emerson. It’s called
A Bucket of Awesome and it’s going to be one for sure. Then I’m off to New York City for another
fall-down-epic signing with Kody Keplinger, Jennifer E. Smith, Jen Calonita and Alecia Whitaker at Barnes & Noble; and finally, I’ll be at the incredible
Rochester Teen Book Festival June 19
th.
I hope to see you at one of these events and if I’m not going to be near your town this time, never fear, there’s more to come. In the meantime, enjoy May Day and happy reading! I’d love to hear what you think.
